Which port suits your cargo?

  • Dry bulk and break-bulk such as coal, fertiliser, salt, grains, timber and steel usually move best through Kandla, where berths, open storage and experienced labour are built around them.
  • Containerised cargo on regular lanes usually moves best through Mundra, with frequent mainline and feeder sailings and container rail to inland depots.
  • Project and heavy-lift cargo can work at either port. The choice depends on the vessel, the berth, the lift plan and the road route to site.
  • Cargo bound for North India by rail often favours Mundra's rail connectivity, especially for regular container volumes.

When the answer is not obvious, we compare both ports on berth availability, handling rates, inland transport and total landed cost, and recommend one before you fix the vessel or book the space.

One team at both ports

Our office in Subhashnagar, Gandhidham sits between the two ports, so the same team boards vessels, attends customs examinations and supervises loading at Kandla and Mundra. You deal with one coordinator whichever port your cargo uses, and a move can switch ports without changing providers.

Beyond Kutch: Nava Sheva, Hazira and Chennai

Some cargo is better routed through other gateways: Nava Sheva for Maharashtra and lanes with more sailings from Mumbai, Hazira for the industries around Surat, and Chennai for South India and the Far East. At these ports our own team handles vessel agency, stevedoring, forwarding and customs clearance. One Gandhidham coordinator plans the job and stays your single point of contact, so you get one plan and one report wherever the cargo moves.

Ports FAQs

Can you handle a vessel at Kandla and its cargo at Mundra?

Yes. Our team works both ports daily, so agency, stevedoring, customs and transport can be split across them under one plan.

Is Tuna Tekra part of Kandla?

Yes. Tuna Tekra is an out-port of Deendayal Port, Kandla, used for dry-bulk operations. We work vessels there as well as at the main Kandla berths.

Does your own team handle Nava Sheva, Hazira and Chennai?

Yes. Our own team handles every port we serve, with Nava Sheva, Hazira and Chennai run from Gandhidham alongside Kandla, Tuna Tekra and Mundra.

How far apart are Kandla and Mundra?

They are a short road journey apart along the Gulf of Kutch, and both are within easy reach of our Gandhidham office.
