Export documents checklist for Mundra

The registrations, shipment papers and buyer documents exporters need, and the customs steps from Shipping Bill to Let Export Order.

Most export delays at Mundra are paperwork delays. Cargo can be packed, trucked and ready at the gate, and still miss the vessel because a document is missing or does not match. This checklist covers what exporters usually need.

Your registrations

  • Importer Exporter Code (IEC)
  • GSTIN
  • AD code registered with customs for the bank that will receive payment
  • A Letter of Undertaking (LUT), if you export without paying IGST

Shipment documents

  • Commercial invoice
  • Packing list that matches the invoice and the cargo
  • Booking confirmation from the shipping line or forwarder
  • Verified Gross Mass (VGM) declaration for each container
  • Any export licence or certificate required for the product

Documents your buyer may need

  • Certificate of origin, especially for preferential duty in the buyer's country
  • Phytosanitary or health certificates for agricultural and food products
  • Insurance certificate, depending on the Incoterm

The customs steps

  1. The Shipping Bill is filed electronically with the correct scheme codes for any export benefits.
  2. Customs processes it, and examination is carried out if selected.
  3. Let Export Order (LEO) is given, so the cargo can be loaded.
  4. The bill of lading is issued after loading.

Watch the cut-offs

Lines set cut-offs for documents, VGM and gate-in. Missing any of them can roll your container to the next sailing, even when the cargo itself is ready.
